MAIN POINTS OF INTEREST
Jerónimos Monastery
This is a remarkable monument from Portugal's Age of the Discoveries, built in 1502 by King Manuel I on the spot where Vasco da Gama and his crew prayed before their voyage to India, in order to commemorate this successful achievement.
Monument to the Discoveries
One of Lisbon's most recent monuments, commemorating the golden age of Portuguese history, it represents a caravel putting to sea, carrying Prince Henry the Navigator and some of the main protagonists of the overseas expansion and culture of the time.
Belém Tower
One of the greatest symbols of Lisbon and Portugal, it was erected to protect Lisbon and its harbor, a necessity during the Age of the Discoveries.
Belém Pastry Factory
On our route we'll make an obligatory stop to savor the famous Pastel de Belém, a conventual sweet produced by hand according to an old recipe from the Jerónimos Monastery.
